At the time I'm writing this (2/00), I have titles for between 600 and 700 books specifically dedicated to Autism and I seldom add a book to the list because the vast majority of times that I see a reference or citation to a book, it is already in the list.
I now estimate that there are no more than 1000 such books in all, which is why I can tackle the creation, correction and maintenance of this list in my spare time.

A bibliography of journal articles on autism would be valuable but would be much longer: it would not surprise me if there are 10,000 such articles.
I will leave it to others to tackle such a list (I believe The Indiana Resource Center for Autism maintains such a list as does the Autism Research Unit of the University of Sunderland, England).
Note that there are some books which I thought might be about autism but was not certain: they do carry this label, but have a comment to the effect that I'm not sure.
